Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) captures non-physiological data, such as medication adherence and therapy response. RTM is distinct from Remote Physiological Monitoring (RPM) and cannot be billed together by the same practitioner for the same period.

What is Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM)? +

RTM is a care modality that reimburses clinicians for monitoring non-physiological patient data such as medication adherence and therapy response collected via devices. It extends remote care beyond the physiological data covered by RPM.

How is RTM different from RPM? +

RPM monitors physiological data like blood pressure, weight, or glucose, while RTM monitors non-physiological data such as medication adherence and therapeutic response. They use separate CPT codes, and the same practitioner generally cannot bill both for the same patient during the same monitoring period.

Which CPT codes does RxCap support? +

RxCap supports the RTM code family covering device set-up and education (98975), device supply with monitoring data (98976–98978, by device category), and treatment-management time (98980 and 98981). Our platform tracks the underlying data and time so providers can submit the codes they qualify for.

Can RTM data be captured without patient input? +
